Christian graduated in Medicine before changing direction and has since worked in a wide variety of practitioner and management roles in the social and care sectors over nearly 30 years, including services for adults with learning disabilities, young people with social and mental health challenges and clients with high-level spinal cord injuries. He went on to manage a unit for clients with complex learning disabilities at a Local Authority day service, before becoming Deputy Manager of the whole service.
From 2007 to 2019 Christian worked as a statutory Advocate within the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and Care Act, representing clients in a broad range of circumstances to ensure that their rights were upheld. He has also acted as Applicant in complex Court of Protection DoLS proceedings, representing clients at attended hearings at the High Court.
In 2016 Christian was contracted as a Court of Protection General Visitor acting on behalf of the Office of the Public Guardian and the Court. He is experienced in working with vulnerable clients and their Deputies or Attorneys, assessing mental capacity and providing accurate reports to stakeholders.
