During John’s 35 years’ career in local government, he worked primarily to protect and empower vulnerable people with varying levels of capacity. He managed a large team and case load of Deputyship and Appointeeship cases for Hampshire County Council, Southampton City and Portsmouth City. This involved partnership working with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) and the Court of Protection over many years, involving stakeholder meetings and joint working around training and awareness raising. John was a founder member and former chair of the Association of Public Authority Deputies (APAD) and has experience of working with wide range of agencies and departments – legal, financial and health and social care.
